Long time since I've written last...

We have been so busy with either going on our little family getaway holiday vacation to Disney World, Christmas hitting, New Years, or going to Lubbock on one of the worst ICE Days of all, or Mike's 50th Birthday.
I will try to re-cap some of the things that have happened over the past couple of months.
We were very fortunate to be able to go to Disney World December 15-19. There is no way we would have been able to have afforded the trip with out our oldest daughter working there in the Student Internship Program they have for college students. Lacy had been a Disney Character or two or three.... and that was during the heat. She became heat exhausted and they allowed her to be a Character Attendant. She was able to get three of us in for free admission and discounts on our merchandise, plus 60% OFF of our Resort stay!!!!! Now you can see how we couldn't pass up this trip to see her.
While we were there we were able to spend one of our days with some of our travel mates from our adoption trip for Wendy. It was WONDERFUL being able to see them again!!!! I do wish we lived closer. These two families have become part of our family.

When we got home I finished decorating for X-mas, after doing a great amount of it before we left. We didn't have long to wrap our packages get Secret Pal gifts off, and getting our famous North Park Center Santa Pictures made before hosting our family Christmas Dinner and gift exchange the Saturday after returning home.

New Years was spent relaxing and watching Twilight Zone. We have done this for years now.

The month of January has been spent getting the house back in order from putting all of our numerous boxes of Christmas Decorations away, and some are still lingering in the garage ready to go up in the attic.

The three of us, Mike, Wendy and I, went to visit Holly in Lubbock the weekend after she went back to school. All week we planned and made arrangements to stay at a brand new Quality Inn there. The day before we find out that the trip may be over before it began because of a Winter Weather Warning. We decided to go anyway rather than to loose the money we had put down on the room. It was so dangerous once we reached Abilene. There is what is know as black ice and 18 wheelers were loosing traction and going over on their sides in the median. We were luckily in Mike's truck which has 4 wheel drive, but it was still very dangerous. Wendy was all snuggled down in the back seat of the truck watching Curious George. Thanks to Mike's computer she was really good the whole way there and back. What a trooper.
Once there we just swung by and delivered the shelf that we were bringing to her for he new dorm room which we had wrapped up in a tarp for protection. We slipped all the way to her dorm entrance and helped put it in. Then we were off to our room. It was so nice, new and very clean!! We had the best time. We swam in a heated pool, and shopped at her mall there. When it was time to come home we did fine until we got right past Abilene. They were doing road work and the bridges were icing over. There was a hour delay through the first road construction area, and a two hour delay stop and stop at the second one that was only 30 minutes away from Weatherford!!!! It took us a little over 8 hours to get to Lubbock and 10 hours to get back home! What a unnerving trip!

We had three January birthdays come through. My mothers was on Jan. 5th, Mike's was Jan.22nd, and my dads was on Jan. 24th. ...very busy month for birthdays.
Mike turned the big "5" "0" !!!! He handled it very well. I'm not sure how I will act when I turn 50...probably not as well.
We celebrated all three birthdays yesterday by having my parents over for lunch and cake ( Mississippi Mud Cake that I made). We took Mike out to Macaroni Grill and the Stockyard Rodeo that evening, just the 6 of us, Mike, Wendy, Holly, Lacy, Nick, and myself. We had a good time.

I have received both of my Secret Pal gifts recently as well.

Wendy and I have been going to a newly started Play Group with our Tarrant County FCC group. The first meeting was the day before we went to see Holly, and the second one was this past Friday.
We have been meeting on Fridays at Ridgmar Mall and it is so nice to see Wendy play and interact with the other children. The first time she was really quite and not her outgoing self; the second time she was outgoing and very bubbly. She was a show off for the camera. She had three other girls that are her age to play with and one that is slightly older. The rest were younger than her, but she was so sweet to all of them.

This has truly been a VERY BUSY MONTH! Good thing too, I have had less time to ponder on our long wait for Mylie.

A bit of good luck is flying in my house!!!

The Ladybugs are coming in! This happened when we were waiting for Wendy; now it is happening with Mylie. Mike brought some home the day before yesterday in a bag. He had them in his office! This also happened while waiting for Wendy.
It must be some kind of good sign. We were off to get Wendy not long after they started to appear.
Hey one can dream can't one? I really am hoping that the wait won't go past September for our Referral and we can travel in December of 2007. Right now the CCAA is saying the wait will be 15-16 months. It just keeps on getting a little longer every time word comes out.
The wait is getting harder! I just can't believe that it is taking so long when it wasn't that long a wait for Wendy.
When October 2007 hits it will be a 2 years from start of paper work to that point for Mylie. It was only a year from start to referral for Wendy. Hopefully Mylie's Referral will be here by then.
Oh by the way, someone told me a long while back on our Junebug group that the orange ladybugs weren't really ladybugs. This isn't true. We were given a book on ladybugs and there are many varities of ladybugs; so when we read this I said so they weren't really ladybugs hugh? I am so glad to hear that I had ladybug luck after all.

I finally have pictures from November Secret Pal

My pal sent us many nice things last month; actually on Wendy's Gotcha Day. How cool is that?!?
Mylie and Wendy got matching ladybug earrings. Wendy got a puppy coin purse and ladybug magnets. She just loves them they are holding up her art work on the fridge.
Mylie also got a little suit case with ladybugs on it and a itty bitty pair of maroonish brown socks. They are adorable!! Mylie also got the neatest Ladybug Big as well. I can't wait to use it!
I got a Ladybug pin for my shirts, and a small coin purse.
My pal is really sweet.
I can't wait to see what she sends me/us this month.

Gotcha Day Anniversary

Yesterday the 29th of November was our 2nd anniversary of our Gotcha Day! I can't believe it has been that long already. It feels like we have had Wendy forever! Mike and I feel very lucky to be able to parent this sweet little girl. Wendy has came a long way with her language. She talks all the time. Wendy really fits into our family so very well.

My GWCA Secret Pal Strikes again....

Hi everyone,
My Secret Pal was very sweet and sent Wendy a Birthday package right before her birthday itself. She got a wonderful porcelin tea set with ladybugs on them, and a sweet little bracelet.
Then my SP sent one more package for November. Wendy was thought of again with cooking stuff to help out with Thanksgiving Dinner. I got a box of my favorite cookies "Snack Wells Devils Food Cookies". Mylie got the sweetest little pink outfit you have ever seen. The top is pink and came with a little hat with an acorn tassel on top and a little fox and tiny little buttons on the front edge of it, and a little pair of socks with the little fox on them, too.
What a special Secret Pal I have!
I can't wait to see what my Junebug Secret Pal sends this month.

Busy Fall Weekend.....

Hi everyone,
This weekend Holly came in to see us and to attend a GWCA Seminar with us. We stayed very busy due to Holly not wanting to be bored. Holly had me running her to the Antique Mall, Hobby Lobby, and then back across town to Central Market to get some goodies to take home and cook.
Dad met us there and we had a good time. Wendy loves to play on their play ground.
Saturday we went to a GWCA Seminar. Wendy was our show and tell. Everyone loved her. She was very busy with her friends Sydney, Dr. Lewis' daughter, and Armei who is Melissa's daughter. Her friend Emily came with her parents Brenda and Jim who were there for show and tell also.
The key person who was there was our GWCA Founder and President Snow Wu!!!!!! It is looking like we may be getting our Referral around August 2006 if all remains the same with the CCAA's time line. On the other hand one of Snow's people told Mike that she thinks that it will speed up again. I really hope so!

I haven't posted in a while...

Plenty has been going on! Holly turned 19 on Friday the 27. She flew in and we took her directly to Macaroni Grill and then we took Wendy to Boo at the Zoo. We had the best weekend!
We celebrated both girls birthdays on Saturday with grandparents. Wendy's birthday is on this coming Saturday Nov. 4th. She is so excited to turn 3!
I'll try to post some photos. It hasn't been allowing me to do it. We'll see.

Busy Weekend!

Friday we went to the hospital. My dad had been sent to the emergency room the night before with chest pains. They put a stint in at 11:00 am that Friday! It took 30 minutes for them to do the procedure! Wow, the things they can do these days! He was released on Saturday.
Mike went to the Hospital to take him home while I took Wendy to a Grand Opening for an Asian Market. Don't think of me as heartless please. There is now way I could have stayed up at the hospital all day waiting for them to release my dad with a over active 2 1/2 year old! That would have been murder.
Mike was there with my mother at 11:00 am to wait for the doctor to come in, and of course he didn't come in until 2:00 pm! So you see that would have been way too hard for Wendy to have done.
Anyway..... They had the Dragon Dance along with the Lion Dance which Wendy and I have never seen before! Wendy's little eyes lit up with joy seeing all of this. We happened to meet up with some of our FCCTC friends there.
Needless to say Wendy had the best time ever!
