Stepping in for Grandparents Day at School

On Tuesday Morning I found and invitation for Grandparents Day in Wendy's take home folder. I read it and realized that they were to celebrate this on Thursday afternoon...which is today. Oh my...what to do....? Mike's mother and my parents are in Ft. Worth and we are clear up here in Amarillo. Well I decided that I would let Wendy ask her surrogate grandparents, who are our neighbors across the street from us, if they could come. We LOVE Pam and Melvin. They are the best neighbors anyone could ever have! They were the first to greet us when we moved in, and we have been close ever since.

Wendy adores both of them. Well Melvin was having to work just outside of town and couldn't, but Sweet Pam stepped in for Wendy. She is just a honey to come and be with Wendy on a day that she would have been without a Grandparent while everyone else had someone there.

I got this first photo of Wendy this morning before school and the second is of Pam with Wendy on Grandparents Day. The kids did a finger play of Grandma's Glasses. It was so cute. Wendy really concentrated hard while coloring her picture which she gave to Pam for her Refrigerator. She made something for Mamaw and Papaw to share and one for Ganny also. We will be sending these to them tomorrow.

Thank you Pam for stepping in for Wendy. She loves you!!!

Oh, why is Wendy wearing long sleeves? Well, it was 50* this morning!! Then it warmed up to 79*. Yesterday it stayed in the low 60's! It felt great!!

Wendy's First Day of PreK4!

For those of you who know Wendy she has never really liked Preschool of any kind due to having to take naps. She had just turned 3 when she decided Preschool wasn't for her. I had figured it was due to being in an Orphanage, and the thought of napping with all of the children kinda made it resurface. Just my thoughts.

One of the families I met since we have moved here, has the same problem with her 4 year old. The other mom and I went to check this PreK4 out and decided we would try it.
Last night was open house and her friend Faith hadn't arrived yet and she was the only one in the class room with the teachers. Wendy felt very nervous and uncertain about the whole thing. I got this photo of her and her new teachers, (l)Mrs. Mary, (center) Mrs. Theresa, and of course (r) Wendy. You can see that Wendy wasn't really herself.
Once Faith arrived she was perky and all was well.
These two will be in Kindergarten together; so I hope we can get them in the same class room next school year.

Today, I got Wendy up for breakfast and she just looked half awake. I have debated on whether or not to post them. I think I will skip the one of her eating, because she is trying to smile but her eyes aren't awake at all.
This one is of her right before we left and then one of her in her class room. On Tuesday's there are 14 in her class and on Thursday's there are 16. WOW.

No nap at school today, Mrs. Tanna took Wendy and Faith out to help put a play kitchen together. This was to help with them not being in the room while everyone else took a nap. Come to find out Mrs. Theresa said that when they both came back to the room after nap time the two girls were wondering why they didn't couldn't take a nap. Hum..... I told them if Wendy wants to she is perfectly welcome to do so. I'm not sure how Faith would do. That will have to be up to her and her momma. I also told Mrs. Tanna that if Faith needs Wendy then to allow Wendy to be with Faith for a while. We will see how things go and I will keep everyone posted. Funny how Wendy reacted to Naps at school a couple of years ago....even Sunday she was asking if this was a napping school. I had told her yes, but if she wasn't comfortable she didn't have to since we had talked to her school.

Enjoy the pictures.

This Museum was so much FUN! They had so many Antique Cars on display. Even More than the one outside of Ft. Worth in between Benbrook and Grandbury.

This is what Colorado does with the dead trees. They turn them into beautiful works of art.

Okay, we had Pizza at a neat Pizzeria in Gunnison, and boy was it good! Of course as I promised more funny faces of Holly and one of the group..... we couldn't resist.Ha

I promised more photos of our trip....

Birthday Fun....

I am very happy to say that I had a wonderful birthday today. Yes, I'm one year older making this year 46, but you know I didn't feel old today. I had a great day!! The day started out wonderful. I got so many well wishes from my China Sisters this morning via e-mail. Thank you Lynn, Michele, Pam, Susan, Cynthia, Sherry, and Mary!!!!
What a blessing to have such wonderful friends. I am so lucky to be with a group of ladies that I am going through this wait for our China Adoption with. You 8 are a true blessing to me.
Leigh, thank you for being such a wonderful friend for 4 years! I am so grateful that you stay in touch with me still. You and I are very fortunate to have our precious girls and to have found out that they were nannymates in their SWI. What a Red Thread we have!!!
Thank you to my parents for the phone call today, and the great phone set; it was good hearing from you. My oldest brother, Joe called this evening and talked with me. It was really special for him to call. And Ganny, thank you for your song today along with your card that came in the mail.
Last but not least Holly, Wendy and Mike treated me like a true queen for the evening. It was just a really good day.
Mike and the girls took me out to eat at one of our favorite places to eat here "La Plaza". It is family owned and has some of the best Authentic Mexican Food. They came out with this sombrero and a sopapilla. I was to wear the hat while they sang to me. Believe it or not the whole restaurant sang too. It was fun! Wendy got a kick out of it.
After we got home Mike and the girls gave me my birthday gifts. I received Mr. Magorium's Magical Emporium, a very nice trash dispenser (can) with bags for the kitchen, a water purifier, and a silver chain with a heart pendant from James Avery. Not to mention I got two potted house plants and some lovely roses from Mike earlier. I still need to down load those photos, but here are some from the restaurant.

Thank you all for making it a wonderful day. I love you all.
