On my birthday.......

I went to Screamin Mimi's to get my first tattoo. I knew pain would be involved, but didn't really know what kind..... lol
Chad said it was my right to passage, and no one can ever take this away from me. ha They better not since I went through a lot to get it!

Enjoy....

Panhandle Plains Museum

We had a wonderful time at our local Museum. We are actually about 30 minutes away from it here. It is in a town called Canyon. This is such a nice Museum. Mike says it is laid out like the Smithsonian in some ways. This museum is 4 stories tall and has so many hidden treasures. Mike took more photos here than I did, but next time we go I will take even more.
We now have a family membership! We are so happy to be able to go again.

New Photos.....

I will start with our friends who came to see us. I had forgotten to take my camera out to the restaurant, but I got a few at home. Maybe Brenda will send some to me.

Well folks, we have made the 3 year one month mark!!

I really didn't want to post at all about this, but the day got away from me anyway so writing about it a day late feels pretty good.

#37 this go around. There really isn't any telling how much longer we have to wait. The last group of referrals went to March 20th 2006 and they had waited 40 months. I know that it doesn't sound like we have that much more time to wait, but when you think about how many days they the get up to each month it will take at least a year more. The only way we will speed up is if China starts doing 2-3 weeks worth at a time now. We certainly have hoped for a speed up, but look how long we have hoped for that to happen.

Off my soap box. I'm okay with it right now.

My worst thing that is on my mind this week is that I am about to turn "47" on Friday, and I had always had in my head that there would be no possible way we would not have Mylie by the time my 47th birthday hit. Wendy continues to ask me how old I am. I continue to tell her the truth.... Although, yesterday I told her I have decided to remain 46 for a very long time now. LOL

I have tried to get my photo stick to upload my latest photos of things that have been going on around here.

I'm so sorry that I have been so delayed with my posts. I promise once I get these photos off of my memory stick I will post them.

One quick thing to tell you. We had friends of ours from Ft. Worth fly up to see us on Saturday!! We were overjoyed to be able to spend the day with them. We visited here at the house and then took them to a favorite hamburger place here called "Blue Sky". They had a sand pit for the girls to play in and those two cuties had the best time. It took a little bit for them to warm up to each other since we haven't seen them in a year, but once they played a bit together they didn't want to part. Wendy and I drove them back to the Airport and on our way home Wendy dropped off to sleep for the ride home which was only about 15 minutes. Jim and Brenda told me that Emily fell asleep before the plane took off. We all knew that they had a great time since they had been so worn out from playing.
I will post those photos to the tail end of this message as soon as I can.

Good to be back on the blog!

Love you guys,

We are alive...

I just wanted everyone to know that we have been very sick in our household. Mike came down with it first Friday afternoon. We thought is was food poisoning, but then about 36 hours later I got it. We have thrown up and had lower G-I problems all at once. We are now wondering if it was the swine flu. Luckily we have managed to keep Wendy and Holly from catching it.
I guess we could have gotten food poisoning from two different restaurants, but not likely.

I promise I will get things back together as soon as we are totally over this. I'm still so sore that it hurts to laugh or even cough.

I do hope everyone else had a better 4th of July than we did.

A Day I have really Dreaded......

Glitter Generators

For some reason I have really dreaded this day.... You see it is a day that should mean extreme happiness, but all I feel about it is totally the opposite.
You see, this is the day of our Third Year LID Anniversary!!!! I really had hoped and prayed so hard that by this day we would be celebrating our referral. Many of my friends have already traveled to China, but our day hasn't came yet.
We have even signed up for the Special Needs list December 08', and still we have waited 6 months for more heartache. We have asked for mild needs for our daughter, but it looks like everyone else has also jumped on this boat for a way to get their daughter quicker.

You know.... If it were me running the show; I would give the families with the longest waiting time a chance to get their child before some of the families that have just signed up for this route.

Most of all I just wish China would have mercy on all of us and start picking up the pace of the Referrals. They have slowed down so much that I have heard that those just now signing up are going to be waiting around 6 years. Good Grief!!! Life time is so precious and short that slowing this process down has put many in a spot. Our age is not getting any younger here.

The biggest thing that truly breaks my heart is when my 5 1/2 year old daughter literally pleads with us for her baby sister to come home. One of her phrases is "I miss Mylie". Just this past Wednesday she came over to me and just looked so pitiful... I asked her what was wrong and she started crying like someone she loved had died. I brushed back her hair from her eyes and asked again. Wendy looked up at me and said "I so want Mylie, I need Mylie... she was suppose to play with me. For this reason we are upping our age on our application. It is so sad to see her like this, and every little friend she has made here are either way to busy or on vacation this summer. I've managed to put her in some camps, but it really doesn't help at home.

Please, oh please China hear our plea..... We are so wanting our last one to come home.

Mike seems to think we will only be waiting one more year for non-special needs, but at this rate even the special needs route will be a year more; so we wait.

We had even tossed the idea around of adopting from Ethiopia and then waiting till our referral comes in for China. That won't work because by the time we raise the money for Ethiopia it will be time to travel to China. One other way we had thought was to drop China and just lose our money we have sunk into it so far and go to Ethiopia, but Mike is having a really tough time with that one as well.... So we WAIT.

You know the weird thing is that it only took a year from start to finish for Wendy, and only 6 months from our LID (Log In Date) to see her face. Never would I have dreamed we would be waiting longer than 3 years!!

Please think of us and say a huge prayer that things will pick up for all of us who have been waiting so long for our little ones.

Thank you for reading this long long post.

One Very Proud Mama Here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a year of having graduated from College and a lot of odds and ends jobs. She has finally landed a wonderful position as a Drama Teacher at a school in Garland. This is not far from Dallas. Her daddy and I are so very PROUD of Her!!!!!!!!!! Finally a job with benefits, and every holiday the kids get. I couldn't be happier for my Lacy.
Now comes the hard part finding a place closer to work to live and getting up and making it to work on time. I hear they start at 7:30 am, but the good thing is they only go until 2:30 pm. Oh, how I don't envy her of getting up that early. I know she can do it when she thinks of the pay and benefits she will be getting. Plus not having to worry about looking for a job again for a long time.
